Hawaii Pacific University: HPU is the largest private university in the state, with a diverse international student population. Kapi’olani Community College: KCC is unique among the community colleges in the UH system in having a monoclonal antibody development facility, which serves as an important resource for Hawaii, but also a training ground for student research. University of Hawai’i at Hilo: UHH was founded as the Hawaii Vocational School in 1941, later organizing under its present name as a state university in 1970. UH Hilo is accredited by WASC. Associated learning centers include the UH Hilo Science and Technology Park, Pacific Aquaculture & Coastal Resources Center, and the Waiakea Research Station.
