Screen for Natural Products to Regulate Food Intake and Growth Hormone Release
We are interested in understanding the structure and function of the activity-regulated cytoskeleton-associated protein (Arc). Arc is a neuronal protein that is closely associated with the formation of long-term memory. In my lab, we use recombinant protein production techniques to produce domains of the Arc protein, study their 3D structure and interactions with binding partners (such as dynamin, endophilin) using NMR, and observe the protein behavior in hippocampal neurons.
